Welcome to Anatomy & Physiology
My goal is to build confidence in my students so they know they can succeed in the medical industry, and learn some super cool things about their bodies along the way. Like, did you know taking vitamin A gives you the ability to see in the dark? Okay not really, but it definitely boosts your immune system and not getting enough of it in your diet can lower the effectiveness of the photoreceptive cells in your eye. Eye-ronic, isn’t it?
Speaking of diet, are there ideal things to eat before a workout? Foods that can alleviate symptoms of anxiety? Smells that can boost your memory during a test? That would be scent-sational.
If you think my nose jokes stink, my eye jokes are cornea.
I want my students to have a fact-filled (and bad pun-filled) time in my class. We’re going to learn on an actual (actual!) human cadaver with the Anatomage virtual dissection table. We are one of only two high schools in Texas to have this table used in medical schools! That’s something for our school to brag about.
We’ll analyze medical case studies, dissect organs, and explore models. But most of all, we’ll learn how form follows function. Understanding how something works helps explain why it looks the way it does …. and helps us investigate when things don’t work the way they’re supposed to.
You CAN ace anatomy & physiology!
